Personal auto customers will receive a 15% refund of two months of their annual auto premium as of April 7, 2020, pending regulatory approval. The refunds will begin in April and will be issued either by check or in the manner the customer made their most recent payment. The payment will happen automatically. Customers do not need to call Safeco to receive the refund.

|
Mercury is planning to give 15% of monthly premiums back to their customers in April and May 2020. This applies to all California private passenger automobile customers, and is pending approval from the Department of insurance. Since premium reductions will be applied for the months of April and May, mid-term annual mileage changes will be suspended unless there is an additional vehicle policy change.

|
Travelers is giving US personal auto insurance customers a 15% credit on their April and May premiums. Travelers announce their 'stay-at-home' auto premium credit program, which will automatically provide the credit pending regulatory approval.

Progressive
|
Subject to approval by state regulators, Progressive personal auto customers who have an in force policy as of April 30 will be credited 20% of their April premiums in May and personal auto customers with a policy in force as of May 31 will be credited 20% of their May premiums in June. Customers will not need to take any actions to receive the benefits. The credits will be applied automatically to the customer’s policy and those customers who have paid in full will receive a payment of the credited amounts.

"To get relief in the hands of our members quickly and simply, we’re offering a one-time premium refund of $50 per policy for personal auto policies active as of March 31, 2020. This applies to all members, including associates, who are personal auto customers and Private Client members. Customers don’t need to do anything. Refunds will automatically be credited to the customers’ most recent method of payment (automatic withdrawal, credit card, personal check, etc.) within the next 30 days, subject to regulatory approval. We’re offering this rapid relief at a time when drivers are making the right choice to stay off the road and remain home to help “flatten the curve.”

Recognizing the difficult time many customers are facing during the pandemic, The Hartford announced its COVID- 19 Personal Auto Payback Plan, which will provide customers with a 15 percent refund on their April and May personal auto insurance premiums. Over the next two months, the company will distribute approximately $50 million to its customers. The Hartford is working with state insurance departments to make these refunds as quickly as possible. The company intends to issue refunds over the next two months to all personal auto insurance customers with policies in force as of April 1, 2020. The refunds will be made by check or direct deposit into the account the customer used to pay their bill. No action is needed from customers, the refund will occur automatically.

Upon renewal, clients will receive a credit reflecting a 35% premium reduction for the months of April and May, with additional discounts for subsequent months, as the situation warrants. Across Chubb's portfolio, the average credit is expected to be $110 per vehicle. Clients will not have to request the credit, it will be applied automatically at renewal. All premium and rate adjustments are subject to regulatory approval.

Active MetLife Auto customers who are paid to date will receive a 15% credit for April and May based on their monthly premiums. No action is required by customers to receive the credit. MetLife Auto & Home® will apply a future credit to the customer’s account.

"In light of these challenging economic times, Stillwater Insurance Group is introducing a 15% credit for all in force Auto policies nationwide for the months of April and May. Within the state of California, this credit will apply to the months of March and April. We are currently obtaining approval for the credits. Once we receive approval we will apply the credits."

National General will apply a 15% credit to personal auto, RV and motorcycle insurance premiums, which will be applied automatically to those who have an in-force auto policy as of April 30, 2020. This credit will not impact a customer's in-force coverage and will be visible in accounts in the near future
